Roundtable Ahead of CEPA Roadmap Update

On September 13, 2024, "Ahead of CEPA Roadmap Update" round table was held in Yerevan. The Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) was signed in 2017 between Armenia, the EU and the European Atomic Energy Community and their member states.

The round table was organized with the support of the Heinrich Boell Foundation Yerevan Office - South Caucasus Region within the framework of "Strengthening Communities in Implementation of Climate Policy in Armenia Through Participation and Awareness Raising" project implemented by EcoLur Informational NGO.

Representatives of RA Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan's office, RA Ministry of Environment, UNDP climate project team, non-governmental organizations included in the Armenian National Platform of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum, and representatives of climate-vulnerable Martuni and Pambak communities and local NGOs participated in this discussion.

The meeting discussed a set of recommendations for climate action to update the CEPA Roadmap based on EcoLur's analysis of CEPA and its implementation roadmap for climate action.

In her opening speech, President of "EcoLur" Informational NGO Inga Zarafyan mentioned that provisions on climate change are currently included in various legislative acts. "Our country is responsible not only for the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, but also for the implementation of the climate provisions of the CEPA agreement. The participation of society and communities in the processes of implementation of climate policies is mandatory, because all these policies are implemented in communities," she outlined.

Victoria Burnazyan, Deputy President of "EcoLur" Informational NGO, and Roza Julhakyan, the expert, presented the analysis of the implementation of climate-related actions of the implementation road map within the framework of CEPA.
