Response from Ministry of Economy Regarding EcoLur’s Legislative and Institutional Proposals in Climate and Energy Sectors

"EcoLur" Informational NGO submitted a document entitled "Legislative and Institutional Proposals for Introducing a Culture of Socially and Environmentally Responsible Practices in Energy and Climate Change Policies" to Economy Ministry for its review.

The document was developed within the framework of “Affected Communities and Civil Society Organizations as Participants in Introduction of Socio-Ecological Culture in Armenia's Energy and Climate Change Policies” project with support from the UNDP/GEF Small Grants Programme and the regional "EU4Climate" program.

In response, on October 22, 2024, Deputy Minister of Economy Arman Khojoyan sent a letter to EcoLur, stating:

"In response to the ‘Legislative and Institutional Proposals for Introducing a Culture of Socially and Environmentally Responsible Practices in Energy and Climate Change Policies’ package submitted on September 20, 2024 (hereinafter referred to as the Package), regarding the proposal to amend and supplement RA Land Code, we express our readiness to hear your specific suggestions on certain points related to changes in the land's designated use.

We would also like to inform you that several governmental resolutions have approved state support programs aimed at increasing the efficiency of agricultural land use and integrating it into active agricultural circulation.

At the same time, we inform you that in order to address the issues laid down in the Package, the Government, through Resolution N 1222-L dated July 20, 2023, has approved the Action Plan for 2023-2026 for implementing the Strategy for Ensuring Economic Development for 2020-2030 in the Armenian Agricultural Sector. This program includes activities aimed at enhancing adaptation to climate change, resilience, and environmental sustainability, promoting the introduction of modern technologies, implementing land reforms, developing rural communities, enhancing human capabilities and skills, ensuring food security, and developing other related fields."
