Accumulation of Radioactive Isotopes Possible in Surrounding Areas in Course of Amulsar Mining: Whether Monitoring Carried Out?

Accumulation of radioactive isotopes detaching from the ore in the surrounding area might be possible in the course of the operation of Amulsar gold-bearing quartzite mining: environmental radiation monitoring should be organized in the area surrounding the mine and the findings of this monitoring shall regularly be submitted to Armenian Nuclear Regulatory Authority adjunct to the Armenian Government: this is what the letter of the Chair of Armenian Nuclear Regulatory Authority Ashot Martirosyan’s letter N 11-Մ-7 dated on 17.02.2012 addressed to “Geoteam” CJSC Director Hayk Aloyan (currently “Lydian Armenia).

In this regard, on 17 April 2019 sent a request to Armenian Nuclear Regulatory Authority adjunct to the Armenian Government asking to inform whether “Geoteam” CJSC (currently “Lydian Armenia) has carried out the radiation monitoring in the area surrounding the mine, whether the findings have been submitted to the Committee, if yes, what the findings are.
