Proposals Developed for Green Economic Transformation of Armenia

For Armenia, conceptual recommendations have been developed in the direction of promoting the process of green transformation of the economy, which will be provided to the RA Economy Ministry. The proposals were developed within the framework of “Supporting the promotion of Green Economy and constructive public dialogue in Armenia” project, which was implemented by "Biosofia" Center for Healthcare, Environmental Protection and Agriculture Development NGO with the financing of the UNDP/GEF Small Grants Program.

The works carried out within the framework of the project were presented during the workshop held on December 6, 2023, in Yerevan.

Svetlana Harutyunyan, National coordinator of GEF Small Grants Program, noted that they tried to create a platform for green dialogue through the program. It should be noted that the Economy Ministry has begun to develop the project of the concept of the transition to a green economy in Armenia. According to Svetlana Harutyunyan, the ministry personally proposed the development of conceptual recommendations within the framework of the program.

In addition to the development of recommendations, outreach and education components were also implemented. The level of public awareness and participation regarding the processes of green transformation of the economy has been increased, a dialogue between interested parties has been initiated. Armenian-language educational and informative materials aimed at strengthening the public's knowledge and abilities in the direction of green transformation of the economy and bio-sustainable development were prepared, distributed and tested.

Gevorg Petrosyan, President of Biosofia" Center for Healthcare, Environmental Protection and Agriculture Development NGO, noted that the program's field experts conducted analyzes in four target areas. Rafael Mkhitaryan, an expert in the educational component of the project, presented the works and results carried out in the educational sector.

In the second part of the workshop, Green Economy Policy Expert Garik Khachikyan presented the developed conceptual proposals for their discussion, comments, additions and collection of new proposals.
