The group of Environmental Public Organizations didn’t sign the memorandum on mutual cooperation with Human Rights Defender of Armenia, which was discussed by Human Rights Defender’s initiative in Tsaghkadzor on 3-4 June.
“Center for Bird Lovers” NGO Chairman Silva Adamyan thinks the provisions in the Memorandum reflect on the protection of rights of separate socially vulnerable groups such as national, sexual and religious minorities, women subjected to domestic violence and disabled persons, but don’t reflect the protection of all citizens of Armenia which are violated. “There are no leverages which will help to protect rights guaranteed by the Constitution of Armenia – right to health and healthy environment and right to employment. It turns out that the ombudsman deals with the consequences of violation of rights, but not with the rights the protection of which can cut down these consequences,” she said.
