On December 18, the Government of the Republic of Armenia decided to pay another $54,044 to the Earth Link & Advanced Resources Development (ELARD) Company for the documentary examination of Amulsar Gold Mine Project. Earlier, ELARD was paid $396,900 from the state budget for its work.
The new payment to ELARD is due to the fact that the company has informed RA Investigation Committee in writing that instead of 70 documents provided by the Amulsar Project Complex Examination, the panel examined approximately 150 documents. In addition, experts were provided with extensive information beyond the technical task for evaluation, which were examined and studied, and 12 additional questions were submitted for clarification.
The Lebanese company has identified a number of gaps and problems in Amulsar project environmental impact assessment report. The criminal case initiated by RA Investigation Committee is not closed yet.
