Yeghegnadzor Municipality, Vayots Dzor Region, Armenia, issued a negative conclusion regarding the public discussions held by "Metal Gold" LLC on August 18 in Gladzor settlement and "geological prospecting for the extraction of minerals of polymetallic mine of Gladzor".
The community administration sent the negative conclusion and the minutes on public discussions to Khachik Martirosyan, Director of Environmental Impact Expert Assessment Center of Environment Ministry, as Yeghegnadzor Municipality informed Haykuhi Araqelyan, President of "Evolution of Vayots Dzor" NGO.
The letter sent to "Environmental Impact Expert Assessment Center" says: "On August 18, 2018, public discussions were held regarding the application for preliminary assessment of the impact on the environment of "prospecting for the extraction of minerals of Gladzor polymetallic deposit in Armenia" presented by "Metal Gold" LLC in the stadium of Gladzor settlement.
The representatives of "Metal Gold" LLC, which initiated public discussions, presented information on the works planned by the geological prospecting for the purpose of extracting minerals from the polymetallic mine in Gladzor, Armenia. The discussion took place in a highly conflicted and heated atmosphere, against the background of mutual insults, which did not allow all present residents to express their full opinion on the planned project.
At the end of the discussion, the citizens in favor of the project signed the participation list presented by the initiators, where they noted that they were in favor of the project, on the other hand, the citizens who were "against" the project did not participate in the "against and for" process, and at the same time, they conducted another signature collection stating that they are against the planned long-terms studies, then this document was submitted to Yeghegnadzor Municipality.
Based on the above circumstances, emphasizing the right to express all kinds of opinions of residents of Gladzor settlement of Yeghegnadzor community and other affected settlements, emphasizing the fact that the decision to be adopted should clearly express the opinion of the community residents,
