On December 21, 2022, the public hearings regarding conducting a geological prospecting for the purpose of extracting minerals in the eastern and southern wings of Central site of Qaraberd gold mine in Lori Region filed by "ASSAT" LLC took place in a tense atmosphere in Pambak community.
Concerned about the possible expansion of the mine, environmentalists, activists, residents of settlements adjacent to Qaraberd gold mine, and journalists spoke about the risks and problems. The representatives of "ASSAT" LLC either left those questions unanswered or did not give clear answers.
The majority of residents present at the hearing expressed their opposition to the project to carry out new studies related to Qaraberd gold mine.
