EITI Fourth National Communication Published

On December 22, 2022, the annual conference of the Initiative for Transparency of Extractive Industries was held, at which the fourth national communication of the Transparency Initiative of Armenia for 2020-2021 was presented.

During the conference, the representatives of RA Government, the International and Armenian Secretariat of the EITI, and the Armenian Office of the World Bank made speeches.

During the panel discussion of the conference, Vice-president of EcoLur Informational NGO, MSG member Victoria Burnazyan, presented the work carried out by the public sector, which is aimed at increasing awareness of the EITI data, emphasized the importance of using information about the real beneficiaries by the public.

Victoria Burnazyan emphasized that "EcoLur", being an informational organization, always uses the data published within the framework of the EITI, analyzes them, makes them public, and presents them to the affected communities. "These data create new opportunities for identifying problems, formulating new recommendations, and exercising public control over the sector," she said.

The speaker shared the positive experience of using data in the organization's activities.

Victoria Burnazyan also referred to the active work of the civil society faction in the process of developing the mining strategy project. "The civil society faction presented extensive proposals, comments and observations on the draft strategy several times. A part of the proposals was considered in the document," she outlined.
