Not only Hrazdan, but also Yerevan may get deprived of water because of Hrazdan mine development, as the sources of drinking water are located 600-700 meters away from Hrazdan iron mines which Chinese “Fortune Oil” Company intends to develop in opencast manner. “It is 30-40% of the drinking water for Yerevan. Either we get deprived of drinking water, or it will be polluted with toxic metals,” thinks Karine Danielyan, “For Susyainable Human Development” Association Chairman.

In the course of discussion of Hrazdan mine opencast development held in the Armenian Technological Academy perspective developments of new mines was given negative assessment. “In 10 years everything will be exhausted> what will we leave to our children?” said Academy member Gagik Ghazaryan, “all the time we listen we should develop innovation technologies, but we see this way has nothing in common with innovation technologies.”
