Gndevaz Villager Sasun Harutyunyan is one of three residents, whose land areas were recognized by the Armenian Government as eminent domain. The land areas were alienated in the frames of Amulsar gold mining project to provide them to “Geoteam” CJSC and to construct a heap leach facility. In his interview with EcoLur Sasun Harutyunyan said he had learnt about the governmental decision on land alienation from his friends, and his friends learnt from TV.

According to Sasun Harutyunyan, the surface of his land area is 5000 cum. At first, “Geoteam” Company proposed 2,800,000 AMD for his land area. When Sasun didn’t agree, the company promised to increase the amount by 15% making it 3,500,000 AMD. Sasun Harutyunyan assessed the value of his land area as 4,800,000 AMD.

“At first I told them I don’t need money, but I need land. I wanted to exchange my land area with another land area. I explained them it’s impossible to find a land area at 500 AMD for one cum…one cum of land area costs at least 1000 AMD. They decided that it was not possible. Then I learnt that it was recognized as prominent domain,” Sasun Harutyunyan told EcoLur and added that his land area is a grain field and he annually gets 500-600,000 AMD income from the land.

“At this moment I’m waiting for the final reply of the company. If they don’t agree with me, I will apply to the court, and if the court rejects me, I will apply to the ECHR,” Sasun Harutyunyan said.

The other resident, whose land areas was recognized a public eminent domain, is Mkhitar Arshakyan. He was not able to sell his land area, as it was under custody.

“My land area of 600 cum is under the land custody. I gave my land area to them to have public eminent domain recognized so as “Geoteam” can take it,” Mkhitar Arshakyan said.
