The reactive firing (heat treatment) plant of the reactor body of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant (ANPP) has been delivered to the nuclear power plant. According to the statement issued by Rosatom, the ANPP is preparing for the final phase of the plant lifetime extension, which will take place in 2021, when the reactor will be fired, which will allow it to return to its initial state by 80-85%.
This unique technological operation will be carried out within the framework of the project of modernization and lifetime extension of the second power unit of the ANPP. "This is an important scientific work to increase the security of the station. Due to the firing, the metal properties of the reactor body will be restored, which will allow it to continue its safe operation," Yuri Sviridenko said, the head of the Russian side of the project on the lifetime extension.
The operation will be carried out by several Rosatom organizations. The technology is developed and carried out by Kurchatov Institute National Research Center, Design bureau Hydropress (OKB Gidropress"), and "Central Research Institute of Structural Materials "PROMETEY", whereas the works will be carried out by “AtomenergoRemont” and “CNIITMASH” JSC.
