20.1 Billion AMD Budget Loan Allocated to Extend Service Life of Unit 2 of Armenian Nuclear Power Plant

At its meeting on 9 July 2026, the Government approved the terms of a budget loan to finance the second extension of the design service life of Unit 2 of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant (ANPP). The project envisages extending the operational lifetime of Unit 2 until 2036.

Under the Government's decision, the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant CJSC will receive a budget loan of 20,111,798,000 AMD.

The loan repayment period has been set at 10 years, including a 2-year grace period. Repayment of the principal will be made in equal semi-annual instalments, due on 25 June and 25 December of each year.

The financing is intended to support activities carried out under the Second Design Service Life Extension and Modernization Programme (SLE-2) for Unit 2 of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant.

It should be recalled that the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant was shut down on 1 April 2026 for scheduled preventive maintenance and repair works. The maintenance programme is expected to be completed within five months.
