On June 17, the Government of the Republic of Armenia laid down the cases of changing the status of agricultural land areas to non-agricultural land areas. The number of such cases constitutes around 20.
The resolution, according to the substantiation, is conditioned with the fact that currently RA Economy Ministry receives applications in connection with the transfer of agricultural lands to non-agricultural lands, whereas the Ministry faces a number of problems when providing a negative opinion. Clarifications are provided that the lands have not been cultivated for many years and are not suitable for agricultural activities, or that RA Economy Ministry hinders the attraction of investments in other sectors of the economy and the creation of jobs.
According to official information, in the last 10 years, about 80,000 hectares of agricultural land have been transferred changes to the category of non-agricultural land.
Thus, agricultural lands will be changed to another category:
- Construction of soil management works, industrial, energy facilities or public buildings
- Construction, maintenance, expansion of residential houses, residential buildings
-Construction and expansion of community cemeteries
- Other cases provided for by law.
