

RA Environment Ministry issued a positive conclusion to the environmental impact assessment report of Mutsq gold mining in Syunik Region by "Georaid" LLC. Minister Hakob Simidyan signed the document on February 21, 2023.
The lands requested for the operation of the mine are agricultural, water and reserve lands owned by citizens and communities. The open pit will occupy an area of 135.48228 hectares.
Ore reserves make up 2736.9 thousand tons, out of which gold reserves make up 3605.0 kg, silver reserves - 5730.8 kg. The mine consists of two southern and northern sites. The annual productivity of open pits, according to commodity ore, will be 150.0 thousand tons, the service life will be 19.2 years.
"Georaid" LLC also intends to build an enrichment factory and a tailings dump, the project of which will be presented with a separate environmental impact assessment document.
The enrichment plant is planned to be built in the area of the production site between the open pit and the landfill. The water collected from the landfill area will be directed to the Dmbdmban river and then to the storage basin.
It states that after the completion of the works, final mining technical and biological reclamation of the bottom of the pit and backfills will be carried out, for which the necessary amount will be 6805.0 thousand AMD.
