On November 17 in the Ministry of Nature Protection of RA during the period of banning fishing and crawfish hunting in Lake Sevan the cooperation mechanisms between the Ministry of Nature Protection of RA, the RA Police and RA Gegharkunik Regional Administration were discussed in order to fight against poaching in Lake Sevan.
Fishing and crawfish hunting in Lake Sevan and the rivers flowing there should be temporarily stopped from November 20 to December 25, 2015 and from January 6 to 20, 2016 to provide natural fish breeding during the trout and whitefish spawning period.
It is planned to close all the forest roads around Lake Sevan and install control points, to remove the crafts, fishing tools and temporary shelters from "Sevan" National Park, to set all-day watching keeping a regular contact with law enforcement bodies and to ban the access of the fishing tools and crafts of all types into Lake Sevan. It is also intended to do explanatory work with the community people.
Over the last month 655 /453.5kg/ "whitefish" and 54.4 kg "karas" was confiscated.
