Awards Ceremony of Citizen Journalists “Make Your Community Voice Heard”

Make Your Community Voice Heard” awards ceremony took place on December 24, 2024,. The competition was initiated by “EcoLur” Informational NGO within the framework of  “Living Landscapes for Market Development in Armenia” (LILA) project.

As part of the program, “EcoLur” Informational NGO established a network of citizen journalists in the target communities of the project. The goal is to raise public awareness about the environmental, social, and energy issues, daily lives and economic development of the communities, and the activities of LILA project through citizen journalists. The materials prepared by the citizen journalists are published in the Facebook group “Voice of Citizen Journalists.”

“Living Landscapes for Market Development in Armenia” project is funded by the Swiss government through the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and implemented by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Caucasus and Armenia offices in partnership with the Strategic Development Agency (SDA) NGO.

The jury evaluating the works of the citizen journalists was comprised by Arevik Sahakyan, the President of “Factor TV”; Inga Zarafyan, the President of “EcoLur” Informational NGO; Naire Yeritsyan, Coordinator of the LILA project; Arpine Tavakalyan, Public Relations Officer of WWF Armenia; and Anush Ghavalyan, PR and Communications Officer of SDA NGO.

The competition featured four categories: “Best Environmental Material,” “Best Photo/Video Series,” “Best Representation of a Community,” and “High Activity in the Group.”

Under “High Activity in Group” category, the first prize was awarded to Mariam Yeghanyan from Dsegh settlement, the second place went to Shushan Karapetyan from Ohanavan, and the third prize was given to Mane Hakobyan from Yeghegnut.

The first prize in “Best Photo/Video Series” category was awarded to Anush Sargsyan from Debet village. The winner of the second prize was awarded to Gayane Kochinyan from Marts, and the third prize went to Siranush Avetisyan from Yenoqavan.

Under “Best Representation of a Community” category, the first prize was awarded to Lilit Iskandaryan from Shatin, the second prize went to Nare Ghazaryan from Marts, and the third place was taken by Vanuhi Safaryan from Artabuynk.

In “Best Environmental Material” category, the first prize was awarded to Shahane Hambardzumyan from Shaghat settlement. The third place was shared by Martun Khachatryan and Ovsanna Vardanyan.

The award winners received certificates and monetary prizes.
