Nature Protection Minister: Amulsar Project Should Be The Best In The World

“Amulsar project should be the best among the world’s environmental projects, i.e. top hi technologies should be used, and environmental measures should be the best, while emissions and damage caused to environment should be minimum,” said Nature Protection Minister Aram Harutyunyan at his final press conference for 2013. He noted that the Ministry had received around 200-300 letters with remarks and calculations connected with Amulsar.

Reminder: Lydian International Company intends to mine Amulsar gold mine in opencast way, where one ton of ore contains 0.9 grams of gold using heap leach technologies. It’s already the third time that the company changes the location of the cyanic facility, as the previous one posed essential threats to water resources, first of all, Lake Sevan, the strategic priority of Armenia.

The company plans to accomplish the process of licensing in the fourth quarter of 2013 and plans to finalize the ESIA (environmental and social impact assessment) in the second quarter of 2014.
