One of fishing lovers sent to EcoLur the photos of Azat reservoir got shallow, which he visited the other day. The following text accompanies these photos, “I’m an amateur fisherman and in the autumn I usually arrive in Azat reservoir to fish. I haven’t ever seen such a thing: now almost the whole water has been let out of the reservoir and nothing has remained out of this huge lake. Naturally the fish can’t survive under such conditions…” he writes.
It should be noted that decrease in water in Azat reservoir in spring was one of the reasons why in the summer of 2012 an unprecedented volume of water, 320 million cubic meters, was let out of the lake. According to the explanations of the State Committee for Water Industry, the water from the lake should have been used for the irrigation of Ararat Valley.
As a result, the water from Sevan has been let out, but it misses in Azat reservoir. The question is where the water disappeared, if the farmers of Ararat Valley complain that they lost their harvest and land areas due to absence of irrigation.
