During the operational meeting held at the Yerevan Municipality on 6 July, major investment projects planned for the capital were presented. These include the modernization of public transport, the procurement of electric buses, and improvements to water supply infrastructure.
In particular, with the financial commitment of the Government of the Republic of Armenia, an investment package of 650 million USD has been approved for Yerevan. The funding will be allocated to the development of several strategically important urban infrastructure projects.
The investment package is intended to finance three major initiatives. The first project is the construction of Ajapnyak Metro Station.
Under the second project, it is planned to procure electric buses and modernize the Yerevan Metro by expanding the rolling stock and replacing and upgrading rails, railcars, and the system's core infrastructure. The third project also envisages the procurement of electric buses.
During the discussion, the importance of the Dalma Gardens development project was also emphasized.
During the working meeting, Mayor Tigran Avinyan instructed the relevant authorities to finalize negotiations with international financial institutions as quickly as possible.
Improvement of Water Infrastructure
Among the environmental infrastructure initiatives, particular emphasis was placed on projects aimed at improving water supply and wastewater drainage systems.
With government support, sewerage and stormwater drainage systems are planned to be constructed at 29 locations across Yerevan.
Veolia Water has rehabilitated 4.7 kilometres of water supply pipelines and approximately 2 kilometres of sewerage pipelines.
In addition, the Water Committee of the Republic of Armenia is implementing a project to upgrade 118 kilometres of Yerevan's water supply network, covering four administrative districts.
