On May 5 an Iranian truck crashed on Kapan-Qajaran highway, which resulted in the spill of 15-16 tons of chlorine bleach into environment, including the Voghji River. As Nature Protection Minister Environmental State Inspection Syunik Regional Division Head Levon Petrosyan said the damage caused to nature made up 4,235,000 AMD. The damage for 98 dead fish was estimated 98,000 AMD, the damage for water basin pollution made up 667,000 AMD, damage for polluted area of 347 ha - 3,470,000 AMD. The amount of the fine hasn’t been specified yet, the materials are with the law enforcement bodies.
