"What is the government's position on Amulsar? Whether it will be launched or not," Andranik Tevanyan, a member of "Armenia" faction of the National Assembly, asked during the discussion of the draft law "On State Budget" in the RA National Assembly on December 8.
In response, RA Minister of Finance Tigran Khachatryan said, "We have presented it in Law on State Budget as a positive risk if Amulsar is launched within a year. However, it should be noted that within a 12-month period from the start, preparations are yet to be made to bring the mine into operation.”
It should be reminded that the preparations for the development of Amulsar gold-bearing quartzite mine were stopped in 2018 after the revolution, when the locals closed the roads leading to the infrastructure of Amulsar project and demanded not to develop the mine considering the risks of Amulsar project.
