EcoLur presents exclusive material from “Jermuk and Amoulsar Project” video cycle dedicated to the conference held by Jermuk Development Center from 13-14 March. In this issue, we present WWF-Armenia Head Karen Manvelyan, “Teghout Support” movement activists Apres Zohrabyan and Hasmik Evoyan, Jermuk Development Center representatives Artashes Arakelyan and Anushavan Khachatryan. Karen Manvelyan noted that Amoulsar is the habitat for many plant and animal species registered in the Red Book and an important corridor for the passing of the Caucasian leopard and the Armenian moufflon. Under the expert, Amoulsar project contains incorrect data about the biodiversity in the territory of Amoulsar. He also expressed an opinion this region has a huge potential for tourism development, which is more preferable in all senses than short-term mining company is.

Hasmik Evoyan noted that claims must be addressed not to the company, but to Nature Protection Ministry and to the government, public hearings they hold are fake, while people’s opinions are not taken into consideration. Apres Zohrabyan said, that Jermuk is the brand of Armenia and wondered how it can be supposed that a whole town can be destroyed and that will be swallowed. He also advised the company not to waste other 30 million USD, as there are no prospects. Anushavan Khachatryan said that their fathers and grandfathers gave Jermuk to them and they must give Jermuk to future generations exactly in the same way.
