Nazeli Vardanyan: Who We’re Dealing With?

EcoLur

EcoLur presents exclusive material from “Jermuk and Amoulsar Project” video cycle dedicated to the conference held by Jermuk Development Center from 13-14 March. In this issue we present Nazeli Vardanyan’s opinion, lawyer and chairperson of “Armenian Forests” NGO.

“Who are we dealing with?” Nazeli Vardanyan started her speech in this way. She focused on legal inaccuracies and contradictions available in the information, which Geoteam Company and its main shareholder, Lydian International, display on their websites. “The website of Lydian says that the company was founded in 2005 and has large experience in mining industry and uses contemporary technologies…but the only project of this company is Amoulsar project,” said the lawyer, “Where they have experience from and what kind of technologies they are going to surprise us?” Nazeli Vardanyan’s assessment is rather rough, “We shouldn’t discuss the problems with the company, we should speak to the government, why the government accepts some unknown companies in our country and distributes licenses to them. We have such companies and we can see the result of their activities,” said Nazeli Vardanyan and called not to give in to persuasions and not to have any deals with the company for the sake of our children’s health and Jermuk.
