Romanos Petrosyan: Human Impact in Khosrov Reserve To Be Minimized

Romanos Petrosyan, Acting RA Environment Minister, assures that the anthropogenic impact in Khosrov Forest State Reserve will be minimized, because there can be no question of a recreation area. "We rule out such activities. We had 4-5 pavilions with their fireplaces, we dismantled them. At this moment we will exclude having any pavilion, kitchen, recreation area. No one has the right to enter Khosrov reserve to spend their leisure time outside the ecotourism product," he outlined.

It should be reminded that in 2011 by the decision of the Government of the Republic of Armenia the process of construction of a recreation area in the territory of the reserve started, which was suspended as a result of the protest of the environmental community. By another government decision, the construction permit decision was declared invalid. Kotayk Regional Governor Aharon Sahakyan responded to the question about the future fate of the half-built building. "It definitely needs to be dismantled," he said.
