During the visits carried out by RA Police and Yerevan Municipality employees, cases of poaching and sale of whitefish were found in several administrative districts in Yerevan, as RA Police informs.
In particular, on January 14, a 32-year-old man was brought from Shinararner Street to Mashtots department in Yerevan on suspicion of illegally catching water animals and plants. 95 whitefish were found in his possession, which, according to the detainee, he had acquired from the area of Noratus village.
A 34-year-old man was brought from Soghomon Tarontsi Street to Shengavit department, who was engaged in selling whitefish during the forbidden spawning and fishing period. He presented 31 whitefish. The same day, a 50-year-old woman was detained on Vilnius Street for selling whitefish. Materials are being prepared for all these cases.
It should be noted that from December 20, 2021 to January 15, 2022, due to the period of whitefish spawning, a ban on hunting of this fish was established. During that time, measures were taken to prevent hunting by the staff of Nature Protection and Mining Inspection Body, Sevan National Park SNCO of RA Environment Ministry, RA Police, and Gegharkunik Regional Administration.
