Statement of NAS RA Institute of Botany after A.L. Takhtajyan

We would like to advise the article published on sհamshyan.com website on 23 May on felling 500 trees in Yerevan Botanical Garden and construction an entertainment center, which was entitled 'An Emergency in Botanical Garden: Over 500 Young Trees Dug Out, Instead Entertainment Center Constructed: Where Are Relevant Bodies? Photo Report, Video Added' doesn't comply with reality.

In 2013-2015 the mentioned area of the garden temporarily served as a hotbed in the frames of a project, while in 2015 the trees were replanted in the natural forests areas in Armenia in line with the requirements of the project. The project was accomplished still in 2015.

On 18 March 2018, a forest park was established in the area of treeless hotbed: particularly over 500 trees have been planted and an irrigation pipeline has been laid. The aim is to make this area a site designed for strolls and rest. Besides, it is planned to plant another 100 trees at the beginning of June.

Currently, a temporary semi-open tent construction is placed there (duration – 4 months), there no entertainment center constructed for permanent basis, which will serve as a place for temporary ceremonies, cultural and environmental education events.
