On July 13, the amount of precipitation in Gyumri for an hour was 81 mm, which is twice the monthly norm, as RA Environment Ministry informs. Due to heavy rains and long-lasting hail, big floods occurred in Gyumri, in some parts the flood waters covered the cars and flew into the residential buildings.
Hydro-meteorological Monitoring Center of Environment Ministry particularly informed the following about the occurrence of intense rain and hail. "During the last 5 days, due to the impact of the active cyclone penetrating from the sea, heavy rains were observed in different parts of the republic, accompanied by thunderstorms and intensification of the wind, hail fell in some parts.
In the afternoon of July 13, between 16:00 and 17:00, an unprecedented event was observed in Gyumri, when during one hour an extremely heavy rain and long-lasting hail fell. The amount of precipitation in one hour was 81 mm, which is twice the monthly norm.
