It is planned to develop the field of biofuel production in Armenia. The Government of the Republic of Armenia has published for discussion in the joint system of legal acts the draft decision "On making additions to Government's 48th decision dated on January 14, 2021".
The purpose of the decision is to solve or mitigate as much as possible a number of issues of state and public importance in the production and use of biofuels (briquettes, pallets, biogas), particularly in the fields of environment (deforestation, forest fires, use of fossil fuels), socio-economic and financial spheres.
According to the draft decision, it is envisaged to use the sufficient resources of living resources in Armenia as a source of alternative energy, on that basis, to boost the production and use of biofuel in the country. Possible sources of biomass are considered to be the straw that emerges after the harvest of wheats, the remnants of dry grass, legumes, technical and vegetable crops, the branches resulting from the fruit, berry and vineyards, as well as the ones that appear in livestock farms.
In order to ensure the implementation of this decision, RA Ministry of Economy must develop and submit 7 by-laws to RA Government by November 3, 2022.
