Lori-based S.O.S Alaverdi Initiative member Oleg Dulgaryan disseminated an announcement on the allegations regarding the closedown of Alaverdi Copper Smelting Plant. The initiative mentions it doesn't have any relations with the closedown of the plant. Below is the text of the announcement:
'S.O.S Alaverdi initiative has recently been alleged in regard to the problems of the plant, so there is a need for several explanations:
'S.O.S Alaverdi initiative has a clear aim to reach ore processing in Alaverdi with contemporary technologies and least damage to the environment. We have never spoken about the closedown of the plant, nevertheless, it's convenient for certain people to vest intentionally the responsibility for the closedown of the plant on us to digress the people's anger and rage from the real reasons, meanwhile the roots of this problem are deeper and are directly connected with the financial problems of the plant, including their relations with the VTB Bank.'
