“Cooper Mine” LLC Intends to Process Oxidized Rocks of Teghut Copper-molybdenum Mine

“Cooper Mine” LLC intends to process the oxidized rocks of Teghut copper-molybdenum mine in Lori Region to obtain precipitated copper as a final outcome. The point is that "Teghut" CJSC, which operates Teghut mine, processes the sulfide rocks of the mine by flotation, and the oxidized rocks are accumulated in a separate dump, they are not used. The purpose of "Cooper Mine" LLC is to process these oxidized rocks by heap leaching. The company has submitted an application to Ministry Environment for expert assessment. The second public hearing of the application will take place at the residence of the administrative head of Teghut settlement in Shnogh community at 12:00 on June 8.

Under the project, over 60% of copper can be extracted from the oxidized rocks of the layer by heap leaching method in 90-130 days. They will be used during rock washing -sulfuric acid 93%, GOST 2184 -77 - Iron shavings - water for solution preparation, as well as for household purposes. Atmospheric vapors are released into the atmosphere during the transport, crushing, and annealing of dust rocks, and during the preparation and circulation of sulfuric acid solution. As a result of the planned activities, biodiversity will be affected mainly in the form of noise during the operation of technical means, which will affect some animals.
