Two Public Discussions on Works Envisaged by ZCMC in One Day

On February 1, 2023, two public discussions will be held simultaneously about the works planned by "Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Combine" CJSC at Qajaran Palace of Culture. There will be a discussion at 11:00 a.m. on the reconstruction of the industrial water supply system of Qajaran copper-molybdenum mine in Syunik Region, whereas, the second public discussion of the preliminary environmental impact assessment (EIA) application for "hazardous waste utilization activities (storage, processing, processing and installation) arising at Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Combine" CJSC will take place at 12:00 p.m.

ZCMC intends to build an additional water line from the Geghi reservoir to the enrichment plant. According to the EIA application "Hazardous waste utilization activity (treatment, processing, storage and disposal) of Qajaran copper-molybdenum mine in Syunik Region, Armenia", ZCMC plans to organize waste storage and installation sites in its territory. The waste generated by the operation of the combine will be placed in the specified areas, a part of which will be transferred regularly (in case of a product batch) to specialized/licensed companies for sale, processing or disposal.

According to the EIA application, 29 types of production and consumption waste are generated in the course of ZCMC activities, out of which 19 have hazardous properties (they are wastes of the 1st to 4th classes of danger), 9 are safe (they are 5th class waste), and 1 is not classified.
