EcoLur
Amulsar open pit gold mining project and the construction of a heap leach facility caused litigation in court. Reminder: the project is implemented by Lydian International with the financial support of IFC, International Finance Corporation, and EBRD, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. In 2014 the project was issued a positive opinion of the environmental expertise of Nature Protection Ministry with 6 requirements mandatory for implementation.
The claim was issued by Gndevaz villagers, which is immediate impact zone of the project, and by two NGOs - “EcoIravunq” (Environmental Law) and “EcoDar” against Nature Protection Ministry, Energy and Natural Resources Ministry and Scientific-Expert Committee on Lake Sevan Preservation.
