

1.5 million euros will be provided to Armenia to achieve an effective nuclear safety culture, to meet the highest standards of nuclear safety and radiation protection. This assistance will be provided through "Promotion of Nuclear Safety Culture: Armenia (Component A)” within the framework of the financing agreement 2020/042-470 signed between the European Commission and the Republic of Armenia, which was approved by the executive at the sitting held on June 17, 2021.
"The implementation of the program will enable the Republic of Armenia to introduce an effective culture of nuclear safety, to create a nuclear and radiation safety regulation infrastructure and a legal framework that complies with EU directives and meets the safety standards of the Association of Western European Nuclear Safety Regulators," the substantiation of the resolution of the RA Government says.
According to the source, RA Nuclear Safety Regulatory Committee should approximate the nuclear and radiation safety regulation infrastructure to the EU directives in accordance with the EU-Armenia Comprehensive Extended Partnership Agreement (CEPA). RA Nuclear Safety Regulatory Committee has already initiated the development of a new nuclear law.
