The provincial administration of the Turkish town of Igdir, and Ataturk University's Department of Physics have denied the Turkish media's recent reports on the current research in the country's six provinces being aimed at studying the possibility of radiation leakages from Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant.
"Our studies are aimed at discovering radon gas in the provinces of Igdir, Mush Agri, Tunceli, Hakari and Sirnak. They have nothing to do with the Metsamor-based Armenian Nuclear Power Plant," researcher Bekir Dogan of the Ataturk University's Physics Department has said.
This comes after Turkish media Monday reports on Ataturk University's studies being aimed to discover the possible impact of the Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant in the six Turkish provinces bordering Armenia.
