From November 18, uranium prospecting has been launched in Lernadzor, which was stopped one year ago.
On 20 December 2010, Energy and Natural Resources Ministry Staff Head issued a letter in reply to the document summarizing signature collection results, “According to the conducted geological and laboratory works, the presence of the uranium mine in the mentioned territory was no confirmed. In 2011 geological prospecting is planned to be conducted in the frames of other anomalies and uranium demonstrations, which are in safe distance from the regional settlements.”
“Fund for Kapan Regional Development” and “Azatamart” Committee are working out measures for Kapan public to oppose to uranium prospecting programs.
