Administrative proceedings have been initiated by the Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body (EPMIB) in connection with accumulations of waste in the area around Qari Lake, located on the slopes of Mount Aragats.
According to EPMIB, the proceedings were initiated on the basis of photographs and videos concerning the accumulation of waste at Qari Lake that were circulated online and in the media on August 15.
According to the official information, additional details will be provided to the public once the proceedings have been completed.
At the same time, the Inspection Body reminds the public that, under RA Law on Local Self-Government, the organization of waste collection and sanitary cleaning falls within the powers of local self-government bodies. In cases prescribed by law, the community is also authorized to impose administrative penalties.
