Cancer Called “Deep Pruning” Spread in Stepanavan As Well

Tree felling under the name of “deep pruning” has spread as a cancer all over the world. With the help of Yerevan Municipality, which initiated this horrible action, deep pruning has been introduced and spread into the towns and even villages – Yerevan, Hrazdan, Gyumri, Stepanavan, Tavush Region and Aragatsotn Region, Gegharkounik Region. Specialists and botanists categorically oppose to it. Many times they have applied to the Municipality and explained that deep pruning causes damage to trees. And the trees are deprived of their normal metabolism, not already to mentions that the tree can’t fulfill its function in towns – to give oxygen and protection from direct sunbeams and its decorative function. EcoLur has covered this problem not just once, as a rule, deep pruning is applied in cold places in winter when wood price goes up. In Yerevan deep pruning is applied in those places, where they hinder ads. Sometimes deep pruning is applied on the request of residents, which are troubled by many plant pests flying into open windows. And then people with saws arrive for help and instead of fighting with pests they just fell down trees. Now it’s turn for Stepanavan. We don’t know what the real reason for the felling here is, but the fact is that short stubs are left from trees, which distort the image of this touristic town.
