Armenian Copper Programme (ACP) offers 35 AMD (11 US cents) compensation for 1 sq m of Teghut copper-molybdenum deposit in Lori region of Armenia, residents of Tekhut and Shnokh villages have told a group of ecologists.
According to the preliminary estimates, Tekhut may have 500 tons of copper-molybdenum ore, however, some experts say that the reserves may be much bigger. Today, one ton of copper on the world market costs $ 9,500, one kg of molybdenum $ 85. So, ACP is expected to earn several hundreds of billions of USD.
In this light, most of the residents of the villages express protest against the miserly compensation the company is going to pay for the land. They say that earlier ACP promised bigger compensation.
