Transparency International Anti-corruption Center
In mid-September 2009, the Aarhus Convention Compliance Committee received a communication of Transparency International Anti-corruption Center, "Ecodar" Environmental NGO and Helsinki Citizens' Assembly Vanadzor Office concerning non-compliance by the Republic of Armenia with provisions of the Aarhus Convention on decision-making related to Tegut copper mining project. The communicants think that there has been a breach of their rights for public participation as well as access to justice.
At its 25th meeting, held on September 22-25, 2009, the Compliance Committee determined on a preliminary basis that the communication was admissible. It was later forwarded to the Party concerned, together with the preliminary determination on admissibility. The Party concerned is invited to provide a response to the communication as soon as possible and at the latest within five months.
