Armenia Plans to Introduce an Integrated Waste Management System

Under the Government of the Republic of Armenia’s 2026–2031 Programme, an integrated waste collection and municipal solid waste management system covering the entire country is to be introduced.

The Government aims to establish a comprehensive waste management chain, from waste collection to recycling.

According to the Programme, the system should comply with EU standards, ensuring the proper collection and disposal of generated waste.

At the same time, the Government plans to increase the share of recyclable waste relative to the total amount of waste generated. Measures to achieve this include campaigns aimed at promoting behavioural change and programmes for the collection of source-separated waste.

The Programme also envisages the construction of at least one new sanitary landfill.
