Planned to Breed Sevan trout in Issyk Kul Lake, Kyrgyzstan

RA Environment Ministry intends to import the caviar of Gegharkunik species of Sevan trout to Lake Issyk Kul in the Kyrgyz Republic, as Voskehat Grigoryan, Head of Department of Biodiversity Policy of Specially Protected Areas of Environment Ministry, said during a recent press conference.

According to another program, individuals of different age groups of Sevan trout were collected from Sevan Basin and moved to natural lake conditions to ensure the process of natural reproduction in the future.

Referring to the replenishment of fish stocks in Lake Sevan, she said that in 2020, 625 thousand Sevan trout were released into Lake Sevan, and 17,000 in 2021.

Speaking about this year's whitefish industrial fishing, Voskehat Grigoryan noted that 250 tons of fish were provided for industrial purposes, within the framework of which 303 contracts were signed. "Industrial fishing will last until September 1.”
