“That’s it. The forest is being destroyed. Can’t anybody see this? Big trees are felled at nights, and they start digging in the morning. I asked and they told me they want to construct a “Yerevan City” supermarket, I can’t understand why we need so many “Yerevan City” supermarkets,” Silva Adamyan is beating an alarm signal on Facebook social network.

Reminder: on 25 December 2012 “EcoLur” received an alarm signal that logging took place in Paros Forest. In this regard EcoLur applied to Yerevan Municipality and asked to inform to what extent the logging was legal and what the purpose was, how many trees had been felled and who this territory belonged to. In reply Yerevan Municipality Information and Public Relations Department said that “the territory in question is located next to the aforementioned park beyond the green zone and is owned by site developer Sh. Mkrtchyan. The Environmental Department of the Municipaluty had given permit to fell down three trees. The examination on the spot didn’t reveal traces of other logging. All the documentation required by the legislation for construction is available.”
